The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) said on Monday that it had deployed sufficient personnel to secure 95 centres for the recitation of the Holy Qur’an in Sokoto state during the Ramadan.
The state Commandant of NSCDC, Mr Babangida Aliyu, disclosed this during an interview in Sokoto.
Aliyu said the measure was part of efforts to ensure security in the state during the period.
He said already, 20 senior officers of the corps had been deployed to monitor personnel assigned to the 94 preaching centres.
The commandant added that other forms of security measures had been adopted to guard against threat to lives and property during the period.
Aliyu warned against any act capable of disturbing the prevailing peace in the state and urged the public to support the corps and other security agencies by providing useful information.
