46-year-old man docked over air-conditioner theft

The Police on Thursday arraigned a 46-year-old man, Kayode Shoneye, over the theft of an air-conditioner valued at N45,000.

Shoneye, whose residential address was not provided, is facing a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.

The prosecutor, Cpl. Ishola Samuel, said that the accused, and others at large, stole the air-conditioner, property of one Alhassad Muhammad, from a shopping complex in Ogba, Lagos.

He said that the accused entered the Ogba Shopping Arcade and stole the item but was caught in the act and apprehended.

The offences contravene Sections 285, 307 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.

The Magistrate, Mrs A.R. Onilogbo, granted the accused N50, 000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case till July 4 for mention.
