The police in Lagos have arrested a suspected armed robber with a locally-made pistol at Maroko area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Dolapo Badmos said on Wednesday that the State Police Command through its operation at Maroko Division arrested the suspected armed robber, Daniel Sunday, who lived at Odun Street, Bariga.

Badmos said the police arrested the suspect at 5:45am on Tuesday after a distress call was made to the police at Elegushi road in Lekki.

“At about 5:45 am on 9th of August, there was a distress call for help by a lady being robbed along Elegushi road, Lekki. Her shout for help alerted the team of policemen on patrol, led by the Division Police Officer, DPO, SP Abdulmajid Isa.

“The team quickly moved in and apprehended the suspect, recovered from him is a locally made single barrel pistol and the victim’s handbag which contains her phone with the sum of N14,600,” she said.

Badmus added that the suspect had confessed to the crime and would be charged to court soon.
