An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, on Friday ordered the remand of an unemployed man, Tajudeen Ganiyu, who allegedly stole electronics valued at N29,000.

The Magistrate, Mrs M.O. Oshinbajo, ordered that Ganiyu, 20, be remanded in Kirikiri Prisons after he admitted stealing the properties.

The accused, who reside at No. 16 Paul Str., Abule Egba, Lagos, is facing a count charge of stealing.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Sgt. Yomi Egunjobi, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Aug. 13 at about 1.30pm., at Ayanwale Str., Ijaiye Ojokoro.

Egunjobi said that Ganiyu stole an LG speaker, DVD player and a bag all valued at N29, 000 property of one Eze Sunday.

“Ganiyu broke into the complainant house and stole the said properties.

“The accused was caught while trying to run away with the stolen items,” he said.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

Section 285 provides three years imprisonment for offenders if found guilty.

Oshinbajo adjourned the case till Aug. 25 for facts and sentencing.
