The Kaduna State Government has expressed worry over poor utilisation of funds made available to Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs) for the implementation of the 2016 budget.

The state’s Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Muhammad Abdullahi, in a statement on Thursday in Kaduna, said that the government would not tolerate such inefficiency.

Abdullahi cautioned the MDAs and appealed for a positive change in the interest of development, adding that they should ensure that the people get full dividends of democracy.

He said that the MDAs had started defending their 2017 budget proposals on Monday, Aug. 29, after which it would be prepared and submitted to Gov. Nasir El-Rufai.

“The approved budget would be presented to the State Assembly hopefully before the end of September for passage into law,” he said.

He charged the MDAs to be efficient in preparing their respective proposals, saying, “the state government will not accept bogus and un-financeable budgets”.

The commissioner, who is also the Chairman, State Estimate Committee, assured that the committee would produce a financeable and implementable 2017 budget, for social and economic transformation of the state.
