The Akko Emirate Council in Gombe State has engaged the service of hunters in the community to assist in combating robbery and other crimes.

The Emir of Akko! Alhaji Umar Atiku, disclosed this in an interview in Gombe on Tuesday.

Atiku said that armed rubbers were terrorising people in the area with all sort of weapons.

According to him, in broad daylight, miscreants are attacking women, using cutlass, to seize their handbags and handsets.

“Security personnel alone cannot do it alone hence the need for collaborative efforts” he said.

“The hunters were really trying because they are making impacts,” he said.

He further appealed to youths to desist from consuming elicit drugs capable of destroying their future.

In April, armed robbers along Gombe -Kumo Road at Kashere Junction, attacked people and killed a lecturer at the Federal University, Kashere and a Cameroonian lady.

Atiku also commended President Muhammadu Buhari for providing security in the country.
