Driver jailed 2 months for stealing pilot’s $2,500
A Gudu Upper Area Court, Abuja, on Thursday sentenced a 28-year-old driver, Ushie Godswill, to two months in prison for stealing $2,500 from a pilot.
The Upper Area court judge, Alhaji Umar Kagarko, convicted Godswill of No. 40, Potential School Road, Masaka, Nasarawa State, after he pleaded guilty to a one-count charge and begged for leniency.
Kagarko, however, gave Godswill an option to pay N10,000 as fine and warned the convict to desist from committing crime.
The Prosecutor, Patrick Ebong, told the court that Moses Onuorah of Onim Global Service Limited, Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, reported the matter at the Maitama Police Station on Sept. 21.
Ebong said the convict stole one Ipad, phones, Laptops and 2, 500 U.S dollars belonging to a South African Pilot and Cabin Crew.
He said N830,000 was recovered from Godswill during police investigation, adding that the offence contravened section 289 of the Penal Code.
