Sokoto seals 10 illegal private schools

The Sokoto State Government on Thursday announced the closure of additional 10 illegal private nursery, primary and secondary schools in the state.
In a statement, Alhaji Shehu Lema, the Chairman of the state Committee on Closure of Unregistered Schools, said that the schools deserved closure.
He said that the schools were operating in an atmosphere unconducive for effective teaching and learning.
“Some of them were operating in unhygienic and rented apartments, contrary to the laid down rules and regulations,” he stated.
Lema noted that the affected schools had been given closure notices, but they defied them.
The committee had a week ago, closed no fewer than 20 private primary and secondary schools for similar offences.
