2 teenagers remanded over attempted fraud, threat to life

An Osogbo Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday ordered the remand of two teenagers in Ilesa Prison over attempted fraud and threat to life.

The accused, Lawal Yusuf and Karim Abass, both 18, committed the offences on Sept. 28 at Adebanbutayo area of Osogbo.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Taiwo Adegoke told the court that the accused, and others now at large, attempted to defraud one Adejuwon Busayo and threatened to kill him.

He said the accused wrote a letter to the complainant, asking him to pay N10 million into a bank account or be killed.

According to the prosecutor, the offences contravened Sections 86, 406, 509, and 516 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Volume 11 Law of Osun, 2003.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.

In overruling their bail application, the Magistrate, Mr Olusola Aluko, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case to Oct. 28 for mention.
