The police on Thursday arraigned Lawal Ibrahim and Yahuza Suleiman in a Katsina Senior Magistrates’ Court. for being informants to cattle rustlers.

Ibrahim, 35, and Suleiman, 25, of Fafara village in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Prosecutor Kabir Mohammed told the court that investigation was still being carried out on the case.

The First Information Report (FIR) said the accused persons were arrested by the joint patrol team of the military, police and vigilante group.

The FIR described the accused persons as “notorious thieves who collaborate with cattle rustlers in Dunbun Forest of Zamfara.

It stated that the accused persons furnish cattle rustlers with information on the location of cattle and assist the rustlers in selling such rustled animals.

The offence, it stated, contravened sections 306 and 317 of the Penal Code.

The Magistrate, Hajiya Fadila Dikko, said that the suspects were arraigned for cognizance.

Dikko remanded them in prison until when the legal advice on the case would be submitted by the state Ministry of Justice.

Dikko adjourned the case till Nov. 17, for mention.
