‎There was a mild drama at an Oredo Magistrates Court in Benin City on Tuesday when an 18-year old man defecated in court to escape trial.

The accused who was charged for allegedly stealing four cartons of powdered milk, property of Favour Nwanchukwu and was brought to the court for arraignment in handcuffs, went beside the court and defecated on his body and walking around with feces.

While the police officer who brought him to the court was making frantic efforts to get alternative clothes for him because the magistrate would not allow him to be arraigned with the feces on him.

But the accused had another plan as he immediately pulled off his trousers and took to his heels, attempting to escape before the police chased him and brought him back .

Consequently, the Court remanded Abdullahi Muhammed in prison custody for allegedly stealing four cartons of powder milk belonging to Favour Nwanchukwu.

The prosecutor, Inspector Thomas OJo, had earlier told the Court that the offence was committed on October 8, at Mission Road Benin but‎ the accused pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him.
