Alhaji Musa Yeketi, Kwara Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, said on Thursday in Ilorin that the government has shut 88 illegal schools in two months.

Delivering his address at the 2016 Day of the National Association of Proprietors of Private School (NAPPS), Yeketi threatened to shut more such schools in pursuit of standard education in the state.

He acknowledged the impact of private schools in complementing the state government’s efforts and appealed to owners of the illegal schools to regularize their operations.

He asked those with sub-standard facilities to upgrade or risk sanction.

Meanwhile, NAPPS National President, Dr Sally Adukwu-Bolujoko, who was represented by the association’s Financial Secretary, Temitope Ajibola, asked the government to eradicate multiple taxations on private schools.
