Prof. Olanrewaju Fagbohun, Vice-Chancellor, Lagos State University (LASU) on Tuesday urged the newly elected officers the university’s students union to maintain peace, for a smooth academic calendar.

Fagbohun spoke at the inauguration of the 27th Executive and Parliamentary members of the LASU Students Union (LASUSU).

He admonished the union leaders to avoid violence and embrace dialogue with the management during their tenure to promote peace and progress within the campus.

The vice chancellor urged ‎the students to avoid any act of disrepute that could lead to unnecessary elongation of their stay in school.

“I believe in open door policy and I am ready to sit at a round table to discuss issues affecting or could move the institution forward.

“So, I urge you to build on the foundation of dialogue already laid by the past executives and cooperate with the management in its course to re-brand LASU,” he said

Fagbohun charged the union leaders to desist from acts that could tarnish the image of the institution. ‎

Responding, LASUSU President, Samuel Olawale, said the union would continue to cooperate with the management in its bid to move the university forward.

Olawale said the watchword of the new students’ leadership would be consultation with the management and confrontation when necessary.

He promised to collaborate with the university authorities on its dress code policy, to ensure that students dress decently on campus.
