China to send 925 peacekeepers to South Sudan

China will dispatch 925 peacekeepers to South Sudan and the Darfur region of Sudan in December for one year on a UN peacekeeping mission, a media report said on Tuesday.
It said a 700-member infantry battalion, the third batch to be deployed in Juba, would depart in mid-December.
Also, an engineering regiment consisting of 225 troops, the 13th batch to be sent to the Darfur region of Sudan would leave in late December.
In July, two Chinese peacekeepers were killed and five others injured during their peacekeeping mission in Juba.
Report says China now has over 2,000 peacekeepers serving on UN missions in nine regions, including South Sudan, the Darfur region of Sudan, Mali and Liberia.
