Police remands 15-yr-old over assault

A 15-year-old boy, Tegah Okagbare, was on Thursday handed over to the police by an Okitipupa Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State for allegedly assaulting one Dotun Adeyemi.

The accused, who is of no fixed address, was arraigned on a one-count charge of unlawful assault.

The Magistrate, Mr Banji Ayeomoni, ordered that the accused be kept in police custody as there was no juvenile court in Okitipupa.

He adjourned the case till Monday for further hearing.

The prosecutor, Insp Zedekiah Orogbemi, told the court that the accused on Nov. 14 at about 9:00 a.m. at No. 3, Ewi Str. Okitipupa hit Adeyemi with nail-plank on the head.

According to the prosecutor, Adeyemi fainted and was rushed to the hospital where he is still recuperating.

He said that the offence was contrary to Section 516 of the Criminal Code, Cap.37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
