Man docked for stealing trailer injector

A 20-year-old man, Jamiu Afolabi, was on Wednesday arraigned in an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun for allegedly stealing a trailer injector and other items valued at N157,000.
Afolabi, whose address is unknown, is facing a two-count charge of stealing and burglary.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Abdulkareem Mustapha, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Oct. 10 at about 3.30 a.m. at No.126 Olawale Filling Station, Ayetoro, Itele, Ota.
Mustapha said that the defendant broke into a store and stole a trailer injector and other valuable items worth N157,000 belonging to one Olawale Investment Company Ltd.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 390(9) and 414 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Funke Odubanjo, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two Sureties in like sum.
She said that the sureties must be resident within the jurisdiction of the court and should be gainfully employed.
Odubanjo ordered that the sureties should swear to an affidavit of means and produce evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.
She also said that the sureties should submit four recent passport photographs to the court and their address should be verified by the police.
She adjourned hearing in the case until Dec. 12.
