An Australian teenager on Wednesday was sentenced to seven years jail for planning a terrorist attack in Melbourne on Mother’s Day 2015, local media reported.

The 18-year-old, who cannot be named because he was not an adult at the time of the crime, was in the process of making pipe and pressure cooker bombs when he was arrested in May 2015.

Victorian Supreme Court Justice Lex Lasry sentenced the teen on the basis that the police raids were the only things that prevented the 18-year-old from setting off a bomb.
