Teenager lands in remand home for defiling minor

An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday ordered that a 16-year-old secondary school student be remanded in a Lagos remand home for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s minor.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. B. O Osunsanmi, ordered the accused to be remanded in Boys Correctional Centre, Idi-Araba, Lagos until his bail condition was perfected.

Osunsanmi granted the accused N300,000 bail with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case to Feb. 22 for trial. (NAN)

The accused (name withheld), who resides with his parents at Ajegunle area of Ikorodu, is facing a one-count charge of defilement.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Simeon Inuoha told the court that the accused on Nov. 21 at his residence, invited the six-year-old daughter of his neighbour’s into the bathroom and defiled her.

“It was the cry of the victim that alerted people nearby and the accused was apprehended,” he said.

The offence contravenes Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty
