The Kebbi Government, on Wednesday, assured pensioners of its readiness to fast-track the payment of their entitlements through dialogue and mutual understanding.
Gov. Atiku Bagudu, gave this assurance while addressing members of the state association of pensioners, who paid him a courtesy visit in Birnin Kebbi.
He said that the State Government was already in contact with the leadership of the association in order to finding a workable means of meeting their demands.
“Your leaders are fully aware of the State Government’s efforts to address your grievances in a peaceful and manner,” he said.
Bagudu explained that the Federal Government had allocated funds for the settlement of pensioners’ entitlements, but the disbursement had yet to begin due to complaints by some other states.
“The Federal Government ordered the suspension of the disbursement, pending when the directive is given to the State Governments to begin payment,” he said.
The governor, however, sought the pensioners’ advice on how to disburse the available funds from the State Government to settle part of their demands.
