Kaduna launches door-to-door waste, revenue collection

The Kaduna State Government has officially launched its door-to-door revenue and waste collection, an initiative designed to ensure the evacuation of waste from points of generation to dumpsites.

The initiative is also expected to generate revenue for the government and create jobs for the teeming youths in the state.

Speaking at the launch of the initiative in Kaduna, Ms. Abiola Bashorun, the Managing Director, Zoom Lion Global Alliance Nigeria Limited, said that it seeks to encourage the people of the state to develop a good culture of waste management.

Bashorun said that the token levy to be paid by the residents would be utilized judiciously for effective service delivery to all and sundry through the provision of basic infrastructure.

According to her, the pioneer personnel have been well trained for the job and 1,500 will be engaged to enhance service delivery.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Malam Shehu Balarabe, said that the Minister of Environment had donated water Hycinth Harvester machine to assist the government in evacuating solid waste and clearing weeds along River Kaduna.
