3 friends in court for stealing

Three friends were on Monday brought before an Ikeja Magistrate’s’ Court in Lagos over alleged burglary and stealing.

The accused, John Solomon, 29; Segun Adeniyi, 27; and Nurudeen Tijani, 29; who are unemployed, reside at Ipaja, suburb of Lagos.

They are facing a four-count charge of assault, burglary, stealing and conspiracy.

The prosecutor, Insp. Simeon Inuoha, told the court that the offences were committed on Aug. 26, 2016, at Aina Adeola St., Ayobo, suburb of Lagos.

Inuoha said that the accused burgled the residence of one Mr Lukman Abogun and went away with his belongings.

“The accused went away with three mobile phones valued at N 215,000, two ATM cards and an identity card.

“They also assaulted the complainant. The accused inflicted injuries on the complainant by hitting him with a cutlass on his head,’’ he said.

The prosecutor said that the accused were arrested when they were about to burgle another house on the same street.

The offences contravened Sections 174, 285, 305, 306 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused, pleaded not guilty.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs B. O Osunsanmi, granted the accused N 300,000 bail each with two sureties each in like sum.

She adjourned the case to March 16 for mention.
