Breaking: Rivers Police Commissioner is dead

He died in an Indian hospital, it was learnt.

PMNews gathered that he was flown to India when his illness became very critical.

As at the time of filing this report, Omoni Nnamdi, Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer is yet to issue a statement on the death.

Odesanya who was transferred to Rivers state in August 2016 took over from Foluso Adebanjo who is currently a Deputy Inspector General of Police.

The late Odesanya was very visible during the December 10 legislative rerun elections in Rivers State.

Odesanya would be remembered as a professional who refused to be dragged into the murky waters of politics in the state that is polarised into sharp political divides of APC and PDP.

Odesanya joined the police on February 2, 1986, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and rose through the ranks to his current position of Commissioner of Police.
