No fewer than 39 motorists were tried and convicted for various traffic offences by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Mobile Court on Thursday in Ota, Ogun.

The Ota FRSC Unit Commander, Mr Anthony Osahon, made this known.

Osahon said the court was presided over by Senior Magistrate S. O. Banwo.

He said that 13 drivers were arrested for seat belt, expired tyre violations and overloading of vehicles, while 26 others were arrested for speed limiter device violation.

Osahon said that the mobile court was to further accelerate the trial of traffic offenders in Sango-Ota and its environs.

He explained that it was part of the FRSC’s efforts to ensure full enforcement of the installation of speed limiter device in commercial vehicles.

“The command set up the mobile court to kick-start full enforcement of speed limiter device installation in line with FRSC regulations,” he said.

Osahon said that the measure would go a long way to instil discipline in drivers plying the nation’s roads.

He, however, stressed the need to re-emphasise and educate motorists to install speed limiter device in their vehicles and be safety cautious while driving.

The FRSC boss implored drivers to install the device, desist from over speeding and drunkenness while driving as well as cultivating the habit of vehicle maintenance.
