The 3 Divisional Headquarters of the Nigerian Army, Jos, on Tuesday started a five-day-operational-planning-skills’ training for 330 officers under the division in Bauchi, Bauchi State.

Maj.-Gen. Peter Dauke, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the division, said that the exercise was in compliance with the army training focus for 2017 during the flag-off.

Dauke, represented by Brig.-Gen. Mohammed Magaji, Commander, 3Division, Garrison Command, Jos, said that the division was tasked under the act to conduct operational planning exercise for the selected officers.

The training was a process of attaining tactical goals and objectives where higher commanders’ directives would be translated into actions and achievable goals, he said.

Dauke recalled the prevailing insurgency, cattle rustling, kidnapping, herdsmen/farmers’ clashes, oil bunkering, pipeline vandals and other crimes that had bedevilled the country.

He noted that the training became necessary to enable the army live up to its responsibility of protecting the lives and properties of the citizenry.

Dauke advised the officers to limit their movements and be pro-active as well as remain alert while in Bauchi for the exercise.

He said that the country could not afford to miss such calibre of personnel.
