Niger Board Of Internal Revenue Gets New Chairman

Gov. Abubakar Bello of Niger has approved the appointment of Alhaji Jibrin Habibu as the Acting Chairman of the state’s Board of Internal Revenue.

A statement by Malam Jibrin Ndace, Chief Press Secretary to the governor, said in Minna on Wednesday, that the appointment was “based on merit and experience”.

The statement quoted Bello as urging Habibu to restructure and re-organize the board “in line with the recommendations of the committee on revenue generation”.

Habibu, a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigerian (CITN) and a graduate of Bayero University, Kano, hails from Kontagora.

He had served as Value Added Tax (VAT) officer and federal tax controller in Niger, before becoming the Coordinator of the Federal Inland Revenue in charge of Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara States.
