Serbia’s conservative Prime Minister, Aleksandar Vucic, has emerged the winner of the presidential election already in the first round, the state election commission confirmed on Monday.
It said that so far, of 91 per cent cent of the ballots counted, Vucic had 55.1 per cent of the votes.
Of the 10 runners fielded by the fragmented opposition only one scored in the double digits: former ombudsman Sasa Jankovic with 16.27 per cent of the votes cast.
The biggest surprise of the election, Luka Maksimovic, who ran as the satirical character Ljubisa Preletacevic Beli, scored 9.44 per cent.

The biggest losers in the, according to local observers, were former foreign minister and UN General Assembly president Vuk Jeremic with just 5.64 per cent and the ultra-nationalist leader Vojislav Seselj with 4.47 per cent.
Vucic after declaring victory said that he would continue as prime minister for the next two month as the incumbent Tomislav Nikolic’s term expires on May 31.
