The University of Technology Sydney on Tuesday unveiled a Center for Artificial Intelligence in Australia.
Set to be a key global hub for theoretical and applied research on Artificial Intelligence, the center will focus on developments in machine learning, social robotics, business intelligence, computer vision, computational intelligence, brain computer interface, data science and information systems.
“Establishing this center gives us the opportunity to explore beyond core technology and into the impact of our discoveries,” Deputy Vice-Chancellor Glenn Wightwick of the University of Technology, Sydney said on Tuesday .

“This includes the ethics of artificial intelligence, such as interrogating the way it will impact the future of work, and moral decisions we will need to explore around developments such as driverless vehicles.”
The Center for Artificial Intelligence’s new facilities will have five dedicated labs, with four artificial intelligence professors and over 100 PhD students from various places around the world.
“The University of Technology Sydney is already producing cutting-edge research in specialist areas and the new facilities will provide new opportunities for our highly specialized academic team in leadership and development,” the center’s Prof. Jie Lu said.
