Cambodia cracked down on 92 human trafficking-related cases in 2016, arresting 113 suspects including eight foreigners, the national police website said on Wednesday.

It said that 298 victims of the illegal business were rescued during the period.

“Among the 92 cases, 53 involved human trafficking and prostitution and 39 were related to child-sex purchases,’’ the website said.

It added that 91 of the cases involved persons under the age of 18.

Lt.-Gen. Yuk Sokha, Deputy Supreme Commissioner of the National Police, attributed the active crackdown on human trafficking to close cooperation between police and partner organisations and relevant institutions.
