The Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria, (MMWGN) on Tuesday commended the Federal Government for the completion and re-opening of the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja.
According to a statement signed by Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, its National Coordinator in Abuja, he called for construction of the second runaway to avoid disruption at the Airport.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the airport had on March 8 shut for six weeks to give way for the rehabilitation of the runway.
NAN reports that Kaduna Airport served as alternative during the period of the closure.
“The Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria commends President Muhammadu Buhari for the successes achieved so far, especially the completion of the airport within the short time projected for it.
“However, the construction of the second runaway at the airport should be given priority now to avoid any future disruption at the airport.
“Nigeria Aviation Industry deserves better deal, judging by our position in the African Continent; hence, stakeholders should prioritise their services for economic boost and industrial development,’’ Abdullahi said.

The group national coordinator also commended the Federal Government on the whistle blowing policy, saying it had opened the once covered “cans of worms’’.
“It will be a disservice to the nation, if the identities of those behind the stolen national wealth are not revealed.
“It will raise several questions or start another round of controversies, if their identities continue to be hidden from Nigerians.
“Keeping their identities will call for more questions on the integrity of the anti-graft agencies involved and at the end show a lack of diligent investigations,’’ Abdullahi said.
He urged the anti-graft agencies to ensure the prosecution of those found culpable.
