“Fifteen are confirmed dead and several people are seriously injured, we are waiting for more details,” Tirupati District Police Chief, R Jayalakshmi said.
The accident took place at Yerpedu, about 30 kilometres west of the temple town of Tirupati.
The driver of the speeding truck lost control while trying to avoid a collision with another vehicle and rammed into roadside vendors and an electric pole, IANS news agency reported.
