Ibrahim Yahuza, Taekwondo coach for the Bayero University Kano, leading his team to the 25th Nigeria University Games Association (NUGA), said he was hopeful of winning two gold medals in the event.

Yahuza said on Saturday in Makurdi that his wards in the sport were the best in the country and was sure they would make the institution proud during the games.

“We are sure of winning gold in the 4 weight Taekwondo category for both male and female. Our athletes are the best in this category, no doubt about that.

” Apart from that, we have trained hard for the competition and are sure nobody can beat us in that weight category.”

However, the Vice Chancellor of the host institution, Prof Emmanuel Kucha, insisted that his athletes, featuring in that weight category, would beat all contenders to win laurels.

He boasted that ” we will not just win medals but gold in Taekwondo, Handball, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Basketball and Football”.
