Mr Nsima Ekere, the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), says the focus of the Federal Government on the development of the Niger Delta region has made it an investment destination.

He said this in a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday by Mr Chijoke Amu-Nnadi, the Head, Corporate Affairs of the commission.

He observed that with the opportunities in oil and gas, agriculture, information communication technology, power generation and distribution, the Niger Delta region had been repositioned to attract investors.

He said specific policy initiatives targeting the root cause of the agitations in the Niger Delta region would further be addressed by the Federal Government.

“We are also working with the business community to identify ways to overcome constraints and ensure that businesses take advantage of the numerous opportunities in the region.

“Investors are invited to join us on this journey of discovery of the potential in the Niger Delta region,’’ he said.

Ekere pledged that the NDDC would continue to work with communities and people of the region to provide need-based interventions for communities.

He observed that that the region was one of the most promising locations in Nigeria, covering nine states.

“With over 750,000 hectares of land suitable for fish and shrimp farming and 500,000 hectares of arable land for farming, the region is a diversified portfolio of opportunities,’’ he said.
