Gunmen kill father of ex-CSO to Peter Odili

Gunmen on Wednesday night shot dead Elder Macaulay Pepple, father of Larry Pepple, the Director-General of Rivers
State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA).

Pepple was also a former Chief Security Officer to Dr Peter Odili, former Governor of Rivers State.

Larry Pepple who confirmed the killing of his father to journalists in Port Harcourt said the remains had been deposited in an undisclosed hospital.

The Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of Bonny Local Government, Simeon Hart, also confirmed the killing and appealed to residents of the affected communities to be calm. He said security agents have been deployed to the area to fish out the perpetrators of the dastardly act.

The Rivers State Police Command confirmed the incident and cautioned against inflaming an already tensed situation.

Bonny Island is the site of the multi-billion naira Nigerian Liquified and Natural Gas (NLNG) plant.

Gunmen on Wednesday invaded two communities of Otobie and Ererekri in Bonny Island, killing four persons.

The motive of the invasion is unknown.
