A 32-year-old bricklayer, Afeez Alawode, who allegedly beat and stabbed one Folawe Abdulrasheed, with a broken bottle, was arraigned in an Ikeja Magistrate’s’ Court on Tuesday.

Abdulrasheed , who lives at No. 27, Ifelodun St. Off Elliot Bus-Stop, Iju, Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of assault and inflicting injuries.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

According to the prosecutor, Insp. Victor Eruada , the accused and one other still at large, committed the offences on May 2 at Galilee Avenue, Iju, Lagos .

He said the accused beat up and stabbed Abdulrasheed with a broken bottle twice on his left hand and stomach, inflicting serious injuries on him.‎‎

“Alawode assaulted Abdulrasheed because he refused to buy him indomie he requested.”‎‎

The offences contravened Sections 172 and 244 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).‎‎

The Magistrate, Mrs G.O. Anifowoshe, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.‎

The court adjourned the case until June 5 for mention.
