Bricklayer Arraigned For Stabbing Man

A 32-year-old bricklayer, Afeez Alawode, who allegedly beat and stabbed one Folawe Abdulrasheed, with a broken bottle, was arraigned in an Ikeja Magistrate's’ Court on Tuesday.
A 32-year-old bricklayer, Afeez Alawode, who allegedly beat and stabbed one Folawe Abdulrasheed, with a broken bottle, was arraigned in an Ikeja Magistrate’s’ Court on Tuesday.
Abdulrasheed , who lives at No. 27, Ifelodun St. Off Elliot Bus-Stop, Iju, Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of assault and inflicting injuries.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
According to the prosecutor, Insp. Victor Eruada , the accused and one other still at large, committed the offences on May 2 at Galilee Avenue, Iju, Lagos .
He said the accused beat up and stabbed Abdulrasheed with a broken bottle twice on his left hand and stomach, inflicting serious injuries on him.
“Alawode assaulted Abdulrasheed because he refused to buy him indomie he requested.”
The offences contravened Sections 172 and 244 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The Magistrate, Mrs G.O. Anifowoshe, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
The court adjourned the case until June 5 for mention.
