Chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Agege, Lagos State on Friday held a crucial meeting at Capitol area to fine-tune their strategy for a rancour-free primary election tomorrow.
At the end of the meeting, the Chairman, Finance Committee in the Lagos State house of Assembly, Honourable Yinka Ogundimu representing Agege constituency 02 declared that there is no disagreement among APC leaders in Agege in the choice of candidates for tomorrow’s local government primary election.
Commenting on a protest held by some members who kicked against imposition of unpopular candidates on the party, Ogundimu said: “There is no rancour or power tussle in the leadership of our party in Agege. People cannot just sit there and say that they have chosen
consensus candidates.
”We are here to show our support for the two local government candidates of Alhaji Abdul-Ganiyu Egunjobi for Agege Local Government and John Babatunde for Orile Agege LCDA. These are the consensus candidates.
”The primary election will hold peacefully tomorrow and we expect
a fair and free election.
Also speaking with PMNEWS after the meeting, the Sole Administrator of Agege Local Government, Hon Gbenga Abiola condemned those engaging in anti-party activities by going against the wishes of APC leaders in Agege.
”We will win tomorrow’s election. We will resist anti-party activities because we know our candidates. When Hon. Mudashiru Obasa contested, he won. Why must they say they endorsed candidates and still carry placards?
”We have Hon. Obasa, Hon. Yinka Ogundimu, Hon. Babatunde Adejare, Chief Safari Adaranijo and Prof. Samuel as our leaders and if they say these are the candidates to support, should we say no?”
