For the umpteenth time, Gov. Ibikunle Amosun on Monday assured the people of Ogun that ongoing multi-billion projects across the state would be completed before 2019.

Amosun gave the assurance while inspecting Afon Bridge in Imeko-Afon and the 110km dual carriageway linking four council areas as part of activities marking this year’s Democracy Day.

The governor said the road which would terminate at Ilara, a border community between Nigeria and Benin Republic, when completed, would boost economic activities in the state.

“The road is important because it leads to one of our agricultural belts or zones; it will ease movement of motorists and commuters,” he told reporters.

He, however, said paucity of funds was delaying the completion of the projects.

“The contractors are now back and I promise to complete all projects before leaving office in 2019,” he said.

On why his administration embarked on the construction of more bridges and flyovers across the state, Amosun said: “We are looking at the next 50 years and not now.”

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the governor, who also inspected some projects in Ado-Odo/Ota, Sagamu, Ago-Iwoye, Ilisan and Ijebu-Igbo, later inaugurated a housing estate (Mitros houses) in Abeokuta.
