Nigerian Senator, Ben Murray-Bruce called for a change in the way Nigerian leaders were chosen, saying that the monetizing of Nigerian politics makes it very difficult to elect leaders with a heart for the people.

Speaking  at the Conservative International Conference in Miami, Senator Murray-Bruce called for private property rights and true federalism in Nigeria, saying that for Nigeria to become prosperous like Western nations she must end the unitary system where everything of substance is controlled by the Federal Government.

Speaking at the conference, the Commonsense advocate and founder of the Silverbird Entertainment Group said “If you find oil in your land in Texas or California, it belongs to you, but in Nigeria it belongs to the Federal Government which gives it to friends and people far removed from the communities where the oil comes from leading to discontent, agitation and imbalance in society.”

Senator Murray-Bruce warned that it was very important for the development and spread of conservative values across the underdeveloped world for the movement to espouse policies and ideas that appeal to young Africans and remove any suspicion from their minds that part of the purpose of conservative philosophy in the Western Hemisphere is to formulate strategies to keep Africa exploited economically and dominated politically.

Senator Murray-Bruce spoke alongside José María Aznar, former two time Prime Minister of Spain and Rick Scott, incumbent governor of Florida.
