The management of Lagos State University has confirmed the death of Prof. Abubakah Momoh, the Director General of the Electoral Institute of the Independent National Electoral Committee (INEC).

Based on information made available by his wife, Mrs Tawakalitu Momoh, Prof. Momoh died in the early hours of Monday, 29 May, 2017, precisely at 9am, at his official quarters in Abuja.

She disclosed that the remains of her late husband will be buried in Auchi, Edo State, according to Islamic rites.

Until his appointment as the Director-General of the Electoral Institute, Professor Momoh was the Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences, Lagos State University, Ojo.

The Vice Chancellor, in his reactions, described the death of Prof. Momoh as a huge loss and that the whole university community is deeply saddened by the demise of the renowned Professor of Political Science and a fine gentleman.

”The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olanrewaju Adigun Fagbohun on behalf of the Council, Senate, University Management and the entire students commiserates with the entire family of Prof. Abubakar Momoh and prays to God to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and for his soul to rest in perfect peace. Amen.”
