Youth Leader Worried Over Killings In Rivers Community

Mr Nkpon Ijonama, President, Andoni Youth Coalition in Rivers, on Friday called on the youth to cooperate with security agents in protecting lives in the council area.

Ijonama made the call on Friday in Port Harcourt.

He said that the rate of killings in Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers had become worrisome, and hoped that such cooperation would curb the menace.

“I can’t explain how Andoni degenerated so fast in terms of insecurity; a once peaceful local government area is now unsafe.

“There is no month in this year, 2017, that we did not record cases of killing in Andoni.

“I am confused because I do not know those who are behind this.

“I have seen killing of politicians; I have also seen situations where the victims were neither identified as politicians nor cultists,” he said.

Ijonama urged security agents in the council area to intensify efforts in tackling crime to save innocent lives.

He also urged that security operatives should not mistake agitators as criminals.
