200 contractors bid for Delta SUBEB jobs

No fewer than 200 contractors have submitted tenders for various jobs advertised by the Delta State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, for the execution of Whole School Concept across the 25 local government areas of the State.

The projects are for the 2015 Federal Government Universal Basic Education Commission and the Delta State intervention school projects.

They include renovation of old buildings and reconstruction of new buildings as well as provision of other infrastructure, including solar-powered boreholes, fencing, toilets and landscaping projects, among others.

Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Sunny Ogwu, while speaking during the official opening of bids for various jobs as advertised by the Board said the projects were sited in each of the 25 local government areas of the State as part of the Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa’s administration commitment in improving the standard of education in the State.

He said the projects would be closely monitored to ensure that substandard jobs were not executed, urging successful bidders to liaise and seek the consent of authorities of the respective schools where the projects were sited before mobilizing to site for commencement of work.

Ogwu also disclosed that advertisement for tender for the jobs was to ensure transparent process in the award of jobs to eligible contractors.

Ogwu, while assuring contractors who submitted tenders that due process and proper evaluation would be strictly followed in the award of jobs to successful bidders, charged eligible contractors who would be successful at the end of the process to ensure that the projects were executed to standard and specification.
