NAN reports that opposition parties in the state had boycotted the election, citing a court injunction stopping the conduct of the polls.

A Federal High Court had on June 12, issued an order restraining JSIEC from conducting the elections, pending the determination of a case before it.

However, the State Governor, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru, told newsmen on Saturday after casting his vote that he was not aware of any such court order.

Reacting to the declaration of the result, a former gubernatorial candidate of the PDP in the state, Malam Aminu Ringim, described the election as an illegal exercise.

“As law-abiding citizens, we did not participate in the election because of the court order, so this is an illegal election.

“We are therefore waiting till Sept.20, the date the court has set aside to hear the substantive case we filed before it,” he said.
