A 37-year-old unemployed man, Pius Ajayi, was on Wednesday charged before an Ikeja Chief Magistrate’s’ Court for allegedly assaulting sexually his neighbours’ three underage daughters.
The accused, who resides at 10, Irepo St., Ishaga, a suburb of Lagos, is being tried for sexual assault.
According to the Prosecutor, Sgt. Raphael Donny, the accused committed the offence on June 26 at his apartment.
Donny said the accused called three of his neighbours’ daughters of ages six and eight years into his room and told them
to remove their pants.
“The accused shut the door and fingered them one after the other.
“The accused told them not to tell anyone thereafter, but luck ran out on him when one of the girls complained of
pains,” he said.
Donny said the girl told her mother what the accused did to her and two of her friends.
“The accused was arrested, interrogated and later charged to court.”
The offence contravened Section 263 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Chief Magistrate Folakemi Davies-Abegunde granted the accused bail in the sum of of N200,000 with two sureties in
like sum.
She directed that the case file should be duplicated and a copy sent to the State Director of Public Prosecutions for advice.
The case has been adjourned until Aug. 14.
