Labourer Charged With Assaulting Eatery Proprietress

A 33-year-old labourer, Obadiah Samuel, who allegedly assaulted the proprietress of an eatery, was on Friday brought before a Minna Magistrates’ Court.

The accused, whose address is unknown, is being tried for a two-count charge bordering on assault.

Police Prosecutor Gunduma Ibrahim told the court that the complainant, Maria Shehu of Sauka Kahuta, Minna, reported
the incident at the police station on July 7 at 4.00 p.m.

Ibrahim said the accused had attacked and beaten up the complainant at her fast food restaurant — Tee Mama.

According to him, the accused also assaulted a man, who came to rescue the complainant and damaged his watch
valued at N56, 000.

The prosecutor asked for an adjournment as investigation was still ongoing.

The offences contravened Sections 265 and 327 of the Penal Code, Laws of the Federation.

The accused pleaded not guilty.

In her ruling, Magistrate Mariam Kings, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with a surety in like sum.

The case was adjourned until Aug. 8 for mention.
