Worried by the lingering crisis at the state-owned University, the Adamawa Government on Wednesday sacked the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Moses Zaruwa.

A statement by Malam Ahmad Sajoh, Commissioner for Information, said that the State Executive Council, which endorsed Zaruwa’s sack, also dissolved the school’s Governing Council.

Sajoh said that the council, presided over by Governor Muhammadu Bindow, adopted the measures after reviewing the report of a visitation panel set up to investigate the crisis and advise government.

He said that the executive council also appointed the Commissioner of Education, Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta, as Acting Vice chancellor and mandated him to “immediately restore stability to the university”.

The university has been embroiled in a management crisis that has stalled academic and other activities for more than one year.
