Jada Pinkett Smith revealed on Wednesday’s “Sway In The Morning” that she was a drug dealer when she became friends with Tupac Shakur in the late ’80s.

When asked on the SiriusXM show about the nature of her relationship with the late rapper, Smith explained, “I haven’t really told the whole story. One of the things that is very interesting that I’ve never really said before is that when I first meet Pac – when we first met – I was a drug dealer.” The two formed a close friendship while attending high school together in Baltimore, but the actress has always maintained they were never romantic.

“I won’t get into the details of it because I’m going to write a book about it, but that’s how we started,” Smith added. The actress went on to say she decided to turn her life around when “something very bad” happened to her, prompting her and Shakur to go their “separate ways.” She added, “When I was coming out of the life, he was going more into the life.”

The actress further revealed her relationship with the legendary rapper “was about survival,” adding, “Most people want to always connect it in this romance thing and that’s just because they don’t have the story.” As Gossip Cop reported, Smith slammed the Shakur biopic All Eyez on Me when it was released last month, insisting the film misrepresented her relationship with the late rapper.

The actress, however, admitted on Wednesday’s “Sway” that she’s decided to let her frustration go. “It’s not for me to try to protect his legacy… God’s got it,” said Smith. The actress concluded, “I’m going to have to write a book. There’s so much to our story that people just have no idea about.”
