Notorious armed robbery kingpin arrested in Jigawa

The Police Command in Jigawa said it had arrested a notorious armed robbery kingpin in the state, Surajo Abdu, 27 alias Mohammed.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Rasheed Akintunde, disclosed this in Dutse on Monday.

Akintunde said that the suspect was arrested at Limawa Fulani Settlement at Kwalam in Taura Local Government Area of the state, adding that he had been terrorising the people of the state.

According to him, the suspect was arrested on July 20, following a tip-off.

The commissioner said the police had been trailing the suspect for a long time, adding that he would soon be charged to court.

In a related development, the commissioner said that the police had arrested another suspect, Usman Mohammed, who was involved in a robbery in the state on May 18.

He said that the robbery took place on Kanya Babba-Gujungu in Garki Local Government Area.
