The Ghanaian government on Friday dispelled reports that the country was facing imminent terrorist attacks.

According to the Minister of Information, Mustapha Hamid, the Ministry for National Security has said Ghana faces no known terrorist attack at the moment and remains safe.

Local media reports were awash with stories of security alerts released by the UK, Canada and other governments indicating terror on the West African country.

However, Ghana’s national security said the alerts are only standard cautions and do not represent any specific known terrorist threats to the nation.

“Through collaborative and intelligence sharing with international allies, the nation’s security agencies will be aware if there’s a known threat in the offing,’’ the statement read.

Hamid, however, has assured the public that there is no cause for alarm.
