FMC, Keffi executes 11 projects in 4 years

The Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Keffi, Nasarawa State has executed and inaugurated over 11 capital projects from 2013 to date, according to its Medical Director, Dr Giyan Joshua-Ndom.

Joshua-Ndom in Keffi said that the effort was aimed at ensuring effective and quality health care delivery to the people.

“In 2013, nine capital projects were inaugurated in the centre, which includes the Accident and Emergency Unit, Family Medicine Complex, Pharmacy Complex, Intensive Care Unit as well as the Obstetrics and Gynecology complex.

“Others are; the Sickle Cell Disease Zonal Centre, Central Information Technology and Telemedicine, NHIS unit and the C-T scan.

“We have done a lot to develop the centre since I took up my appointment on April 1, 2010.

“Against all the odds of inadequate funds, industrial unrest, saboteurs and other distractions, we have refused to give up.

“Rather, we have drawn inspiration from the saying that “when the going gets tough, the tough gets going’’, he said.

He said that the institution also initiated and executed the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and 200 KVA solar power, adding that the Minister of State for Health, Dr Ehanire Osagie inaugurated the project on Jan. 31.

According to Joshua-Ndom, the centre has also built a standard modern mortuary that can take up to 60 corpses, equipped with autopsy facilities.

The medical director assured the people that the centre would not relent effort toward sustaining and improving its services to ensure an improved health sector.

He, however, urged members of the public to support and cooperate with the institution to enable achieve its aims and objectives.

The medical director reinstated the commitment of the centre to continue to initiate good health policies and programmes that would have a direct bearing on public health.
