Playing on their own court where they recorded a hundred percent home win during the regular season, the Harmony Boys made sure they gave their fans an opening gift which would remain long in their hearts.

The hosts cruised their way to the lead building a 15 point gap, winning 31-16 heading to the second quarter.

Police Baton displayed a more potent approach in the second quarter as they tried to fight their way back in the game but Falcons stood strong at 64-35.

Godwin as he has done in recent games, converted 8/12 of his free throws in the game.

Falcons finished the last quarter in front of a cheering crowd with an 8-0 run during the last three minutes to finish the game with a whopping 108-70 win.

Reacting, Coach Adewunmi Aderemi praised his players for their performances.

“We were able to get 108 points. It’s really encouraging, our performance was good in the first two quarters.

“During the last two quarters, we were not really kicking, our defence was leaking. That shows we are still a work in progress,’’ Aderemi said.

The Falcons’ coach also expects a better performance ahead of his team’s next game against Oluyole Warriors.

“They had a 2-2 record against us during the regular season but it’s a different ball game this time around.

“You cannot underrate any team at this stage, so we will continue to put in our best,’’ Aderemi added.

The Ilorin side will take on Oluyole warriors in their next game on Wednesday.

However, during the opening game of the day, Hoops and Read Basketball Club of Lagos beat Oluyole Warriors 70-47 points.

Hoops and Read won the opening quarter 18-8 points.

Oluyole Warriors added 13 points in the second quarter but still could not match Hoops who finished the half with 32 points.

The third quarter clearly underlined Oluyole problems as they were able to make 6 points in total taking their points to 53-27.

Hoops capitalised on some poor defending by their opponents to eventually win 70-47.

Hoops and Read will face Rivers Hoopers on Wednesday by 2 p.m., while Oluyole Warriors tackle Kwara Falcons by 4 p.m.
