IPAC mourns late LASIEC commissioner

The Lagos State Chapter of Inter-Party Council(IPAC) has described the death of a Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) commissioner, Mr. Lateef Raji, as a great loss to the political community in the state.

Raji, who was also a member of former governor Babatunde Fashola’s cabinet, died in the early hours of Monday at the age of 53.

He has since been buried in his Ido-Ani hometown in Ondo State, according to Islamic rites.

IPAC, in a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Malam Shakirudeen Olofin, in Lagos on Thursday described Raji as a resourceful administrator and politician.

Olofin added that the deceased played a prominent role to stabilize the political environment in the state.

“He also gave great support to IPAC to ensure a harmonious relationship among political parties.

“We commiserate with LASIEC, the state government, and his family, on this great loss.

“And we pray for the peaceful repose of his soul and ask God to give the family the fortitude to bear the loss,’’ he said.
